2019 Summer Music Camps

Project Grace is pleased to announce our 2019 Summer Music Camps! We offer a wide range of opportunities for kids of all ages and musical levels.

The cost for one week of half-day camp is $115 per child.

Interested in financial support? Project Grace does have a limited number of tuition scholarships available for Summer Music Camps. You must request further information about tuition scholarships before submitting a registration form.

Camp Descriptions

Be sure to read through the camp dates and descriptions thoroughly before registering. Not all camps are suitable for all children.

Music Alive!

We call this our “Experience Music” camp. It’s ideal for children who will be in grades 1 through 4 in the 2019-2020 school year. Campers will participate in games, crafts, and outdoor play, all with a musical theme. Campers will also get to play a variety of instruments.

*August 5-9 is a 4-day camp as there is no camp on Regatta Day, Wednesday, August 7. The cost for this week of camp is $96 per child.

Junior Orchestra

1:00 – 4:00pm
July 8 – 12
August 12 – 16

This camp is open to children who will be entering into grades 2 through 6 in the 2019-2020 school year. Students must have a minimum of one year of playing experience (i.e. private lessons, school ensemble). Students will participate in large ensemble rehearsals, sectionals, and individual practice, in addition to the usual camp experiences of games, crafts and outdoor activities.

Students must bring your own instrument to this camp!

Senior Orchestra

1:00 – 4:00pm
July 15 – 19
August 26 – 30

This camp is open to children who will be entering into grades 5 through 9 in the 2019-2020 school year. Students must have a minimum of three years of playing experience (i.e. private lessons, school ensemble). Students will participate in large ensemble rehearsals, sectionals, and individual practice, in addition to a variety of other activities that are designed for older students.

Students must bring your own instrument to this camp!

Chamber Music

Junior Chamber Music
9:00am – 12:00pm

August 12 – 16

This camp is open to children who will be entering into grades 2 through 6 in the 2019-2020 school year. Students must have a minimum of one year of playing experience (i.e. private lessons, school ensemble). Students will participate in large ensemble rehearsals, sectionals, and individual practice, in addition to the usual camp experiences of games, crafts and outdoor activities.

Senior Chamber Music
1:00 – 4:00pm

August 5 – 9*

This camp is open to students who will be entering into grades 7 through 12 in the 2019-2020 school year. Students must have a minimum of three years of playing experience (i.e. private lessons, school ensemble). Students will participate in large ensemble rehearsals, sectionals, and individual practice, in addition to a variety of other activities that are designed for older students.

Students must bring your own instrument to this camp!

New Music Camp

1:00 – 4:00pm
July 29 – August 2

This camp is open to students who will be entering into grades 5 through 9 in the 2019-2020 school year. Students must have a minimum of one year of playing experience (i.e. private lessons, school ensemble). This program will explore contemporary music and improvisation. With the guidance of local composers, students will write their own music as part of this camp. Students will also learn solo and ensemble music and give a short performance at the end of the week.

Students must bring your own instrument to this camp!

Super Flute

1:00 – 4:00pm
August 19 – 23

Calling all flute players! This camp is open to students who will be in grades 5 through 9 in the 2019-2020 school year who have experience playing the flute or are interested in trying it out. It is suitable for students who will be starting band in September on flute, or for students who already play the flute. Students will participate in group lessons, chamber music and regular camp activities such as games, crafts and outdoor activities.

Students must bring your own instrument to this camp!

Music Lessons For Grown-Ups

Adults can make music with Project Grace, too! Our Music Lessons For Grown-Ups program features group lessons in five different instruments — clarinet, flute, guitar, piano, ukulele, and violin.

The cost is $120 for 8 lessons.

Music Lessons For Grown-Ups take place every Tuesday evening 7:30-8:30pm from July 3 through August 21 at The Bethany Centre.

Please note, each group class requires a minimum of three students. Any classes that do not have three or more students enrolled will be canceled. (We suggest you invite two friends to join you!)

We are offering Level 2 classes in ukulele, piano, and violin. You must have the following experience to participate in these classes:

Ukulele

  • Know the names of the strings
  • Be able to read fretboard chord symbols
  • Be able to strum some basic patterns
  • Be able read rudimentary tablature
  • Be able to play the primary chords in C, G and F (these include chords C, G, F, D, Bb, Am, Em, Bm)

Violin

  • General understanding of how to hold the instrument and bow
  • Know the names of the strings
  • Very basic note reading abilities 

Piano

  • Know the names of the keys and have a basic understanding of how to move around the keyboard
  • Basic note reading abilities
